About LYON$:
Cosmic country band LYON$ thrives on breaking boundaries, dialing up the soul and twang for a raucous sound all their own. With a wicked psychedelic streak in their back pocket, they draw inspiration as much from frontman Trey Lyons’ East Tupelo, Mississippi, roots as from their current big city home, Chicago. Their second album Confused and Confrontational reflects their growth as a band, with a cohesive sound celebrating their deep love for ‘60s soul and hard-edged honky-tonk. Confused and Confrontational was recorded in part at the legendary FAME studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and features Billy Earhart (Amazing Rhythm Aces/Hank Williams Jr.) on piano and Hammond organ, with horns provided by Jody Lackey and Chris Plaskota on the songs “Stand” and “Hurricane.” The rest of the record was recorded at Uphill Recording Services in Chicago, Illinois, with engineer Kevin Tabisz at the helm. While the album honestly reflects tough topics like breaking up, getting back together, and mental health struggles, it also deals with navigating reentry into a changed world, with more love and empathy and offers a reminder to take it a little easier on everyone around you who may be struggling themselves. The result is cosmic country at its finest–affirmative, transcendent, and free. LYON$ is Trey Lyons (vocals/guitar), Mike Hicks (guitar/piano/vocals), Ian Lee (bass), and Nick Ohlson (drums/percussion).
